Using an audience-centric approach, I guide clients through the process of identifying meaningful stories and developing engaging content for their unique projects.

My experience includes leading the interpretation for major special exhibitions and high profile collection reinstallations as well as for projects involving community co-creation and those with award-winning digital interactives.

Our collaboration could focus on:

  • creating a museum-wide interpretive framework,

  • writing an interpretive plan for a temporary exhibition or permanent gallery,

  • developing new or editing existing interpretive content,

  • collecting feedback from existing and prospective audiences at any stage of a project.

  • "I've had the pleasure of watching and learning from Alison's work for over a decade. It was a joy to host Into the Abstract. Crites gave the art visual power and scale by arranging large quantities of works to draw the visitors' eye. The result had audiences stopping in their tracks with a "wow" as they entered the space. And design is just one of her strengths -- Crites is also a skilled collaborator, thoughtful wordsmith, and an inclusive audience-builder, always centering the visitor's experience in art."

  • "It was a privilege to work with Alison on the ambitious display of The Red Dress and accompanying community-stitched dress, Calico Dress # 2. Through her deep understanding and love of visual expression, keen attention to detail, and warm, generous energy, Alison not only curates the work with great skill but also invites audiences to connect with its depth, meaning, and message in a way that is truly rare."
